Why
the IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - was wrong
then and is even more wrong now.
| The IPCC is not a scientific organization
– it is a United Nations panel of member countries. It started with the Green premise that humans could alter the Earth's climate with fossil fuel burning and set out to "prove" it. The proof they manufactured was purely political. The IPCC gathered its own group of scientists together - almost all of them computer modelers. It is more than a little surprising that these scientists didn’t point out that Carbon Dioxide was not really a greenhouse gas at all -- Water Vapour is entirely responsible for the “Greenhouse effect” – Carbon Dioxide is only theoretically a Greenhouse Gas, it’s actual effect [less than 2%] is so trivial it can be discarded completely, and anyway the Greenhouse effect itself is only a minor factor in the determining the Earth’s temperature -- almost all the heat the Earth adsorbs from the Sun is not re-radiated, but is transferred back to space by updrafts [convection]. An increase in greenhouse effect would most probably be stabilized by an increase in convectional cooling. It is extremely unlikely that a small rise in this tiny trace element [Carbon Dioxide] in the atmosphere would have any discernable effect at all on climate. You have to have a computer program for that. The whole Global Warming Phenomena revolves around a simple premise - that a small increase in carbon dioxide is going to upset a delicate balance and cause the only significant greenhouse gas, water vapour, to increase. Trouble is there is no delicate balance - the level of water vapour is self regulating - e.g. more water vapour causes more clouds and snow which reflects heat back to space and cools down the surface, reducing evaporation and with it the level of water vapour. There is just no science to prove that the level of water vapour would go up and stay up from a small increase in carbon dioxide. The Earth's temperature does vary considerably, but only on very long term scales, short term it is self regulated and very stable. The IPCC should also have known that computer science was not and still is not capable of reliably predicting global climate. Computer models are extremely esoteric and unable to be easily tested or checked. The IPCC took the unreliable computer models, made assumptions about future conditions and published “scenarios” about the future, claiming a majority of the entire Worlds’ scientists agreed with them. Dubious – very dubious. The computer models are GCMs – global circulation models – physical models – but our planet isn’t just physical -- it seethes and teems with life, half of which [all animals] discharge Carbon Dioxide while the other half [all plants] “eat” Carbon Dioxide. This is the Carbon Cycle. It dwarfs fossil fuel burning in quantity and it cannot be modeled, it is too complex. Since the IPCC do not know how human Carbon Dioxide will interact with the biosphere – and they don’t -- then they simply cannot justify their claim that it will take decades or even centuries for our fossil fuel produced Carbon Dioxide to be absorbed back into the biosphere where it came from. They cannot prove it scientifically, they just made it up as they went along, it’s like the claim that Global Warming will be all bad and will cause nothing but bad weather – there is no science for that either. Ask to see it, it just doesn’t exist. Having selected the scientists, the governments of the IPCC then themselves interpreted the submissions of the scientists, excluding a large number of them ["could not be accommodated"] and published "The Summary for Policymakers". This process is wide open to manipulation and designed to produce the required result right from the start. “Independent”, “objective”, and “scientific” are not fitting descriptions for the process adopted. Science cannot yet explain Ice ages, or more recent warm or cool periods in the Earth’s climate, but science has discovered and documented them. The Earth indisputably heats up and cools down all by itself or in response to its star – “natural forcings” -- the IPCC calls them and it is preposterous of them to dismiss them in its calculations when we just don’t understand them. It is untenable to just assume that the Earth will stay the same for the next 50 to 100 years and that all the changes manifested can be then be attributed to humans alone. Yeah right! Two glaring IPCC errors have gone uncorrected.
It is because it is not science at all. The IPCC is taking an ideological, doctrinal, almost theological, stance. To them, we are all sinners, destroying the world and to save ourselves we must repent and become truly Green. The Green movement has become very big, very powerful, ubiquitous and omniscient by creating scientific dramas. DDT, Acid Rain, Nuclear threats, the Ozone layer and now the mother of all scares, because it demands a global revolution to solve it, Global Warming. Such a pity it is also the mother of all frauds.
