14th May 2003

The upper trough and low that helped cause the rain and storms earlier in the week continued to hang around for a few days leading to isolated showers/storms in eastern areas of South Australia.
The afternoon looked the best for something to occur closer to Adelaide so after I had finished work at 2.30pm I quickly scanned the radar and sat pics for action. Seemed to be a line of heavy showers heading NW towards the Murray Bridge area. So I left for Murray Bridge by about 3.15pm. At the top of the Adelaide hills the Cbs came into view. Quite good structure too at times but was hard to get good pics, with low cloud skimming along, and driving at 110km/hr. Intercepted the rain at about the Callington turn-off with a sort of mini wall-cloud thingo/guster at the leading edge. Heavy rainfall for awhile then steady rain. Drove through to Murray Bridge and almost to Tailem Bend in steady rain, then turned around as update from Kathy said stuff all east of there.... caught the rain coming back again and then got some great sunset shots of the Cb coming back along the freeway. All up a nice drive for some spectacular photos and some heavy rain. Was surprised that there wasn't actually any electrical activity in it all.
