The younger brother of Edward Pole of the 10th generation, Charles, was succeeded by his daughter Millicent (Charles10, Samuel9, Richard8, German7, German6, John5, Raufe4, Raulfe3, Peter2, John1) (11th generation) as eventual heraldic heiress on the death of her brother Samuel with out heirs, as such she was entitled to the arms in figure 16. She married Charles Van Notten a gentleman of Dutch descent and whose family had been hereditary Nobles of the Holy Roman Empire since 1499. Charles Van Notten took by royal license in 1787 the surname and arms of POLE with a mullet for difference in the 1st and 4th quarters and relegated his paternal arms to the lesser 2nd and 3rd quarters | ||
