For his second album with Still Evolved saxophonist Ted Nash plays it inspirationally straight.

More precisely, the inspiration for this all-original set is drawn from Nash's travels with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, the Zenon Dance Company in Minneapolis and the great desserts at his favourite café. The stellar lineup includes Marcus Printup on trumpet, bassist Ben Allison, pianist Frank Kimbrough, and Matt Wilson on drums.

The epic 'Durning's Dance' is an intoxicating exploration of pure grace, while the catchy 'Café Dupa' bops its way back to an earlier era. Rather than the expected touch of avant-garde 'The Cubist' delivers the most commercially accessible track on the record. Without doubt the best from Nash so far.
