The wet weather in Brisbane finally cleared to show a magnificent comet late in the evening twilight. The comet is just off the top of Orion's sheild and is heading south-east.

Bjorn Granslo from the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics in Norway has worked out an accurate position for the comet from this photo and has generated a 3 x 3 deg. chart to mag. V=10.5 which is based on the Tycho catalogue.

As the comet moves higher in the sky, a little more tail can be seen. The to Bright stars in the top left corner of the image are Alnilam and Mintaka (part of Orion's belt). The bright Star in the bottom right corner is Bellatrix (Orion's shoulder).

The comet is now about 4th magnitude with a 7 degrees of tail. The three brightest star on the left of the photo is the belt of Orion.
