MISSION STATEMENT FOR 2000 As people of God in this place, we are called to pray for all, listen to all and share the word of God with all.
LIVING IS GIVING: is a program giving congregations the opportunity to adopt special Projects. This Parish has adopted as Projects for 2000: Frontier Services, Hospital Chaplaincy, Gaol Chaplaincy and Scripture in Schools.
We had the pleasure of seeing our new minister, Rev Mel Macarthur, inducted on Friday 29th June 2001. Mel is a member of both the Blue Mountains Conservation Society and Bicycle NSW and worked in the Blue Mountains some years back - before his ordination.
He is looking forward to renewing his acquaintance with the local flora and fauna, as well as meeting local environmentalists and cyclists. He has an interesting tale to tell of his pilgrimage from Dublin to Jerusalem, alone, on a bicycle.
Practising what he preaches, Mel does not possess a car and regards the Blue Mountains terrain as just another challenge.
We have three churches in our Parish. Woodford Church is on the Great Western Highway in Woodford and was established in 1906. It is undergoing renovations and does not at present have services.
Hazelbrook Church is in Rosedale Avenue, Hazelbrook and was established in 1916.
Lawson Church is in Yileena Avenue, Lawson and was established in 1888.
Sunday Services: Hazelbrook at 9am followed by morning tea - all welcome; Lawson at 10.30am followed by morning tea - all welcome; Combined Evening Service at Hazelbrook - 5pm in winter, 6pm in summer. The evening congregation is studying the Alpha course and finding it stimulating. Occasionally this Service is followed by a fellowship tea (bring a plate).
Congregation members are encouraged to participate in the services by placing their names on rosters to read the Lessons for the day, and to lead in prayers for and of the people.

Interested members in the church have formed a prayer chain to uphold in prayer those with special needs, and all members of the Parish are encouraged to pray at 8am and 8pm (or both) each day for our Parish and our Mission in this community. A Telecare service has recently been set up to support those who are unable to come to church or who are in need.
The Parish has five elders and their duties and responsibilities are: sharing with the Minister(s) in building up the Congregation in faith and love; nurturing the members and adherents in their growth in grace; visiting regularly members and adherents; assisting the Minister(s) in the conduct of worship and in the administration of sacraments; sharing with the Minister(s) in the spiritual oversight of the Congregation, in Christian education, and in evangelistic outreach.
