RC Cars Speed Controls Power Master Mk VI
Power
Master is an incredibly small, reliable and powerful fully programmable speed
control for model cars. It was designed for 1/10th scale electric cars running
unlimited motors on 6 to 7 cells, but will handle currents in excess of 150 Amps on variable throttle up to
18 Vdc (5 to 12 cells), making it suitable for any type of competition racing. Significant gains
can be achieved when using Power Master with stock motors due to the very low on
resistance.
Price Straight or right angled lead exit AUD $135 + postage. Switched + AUD $5 Anodised aluminium case + AUD $20 Availability query
New PM Lo Volt PM Lo Volt is the ultimate 4 cell racing ESC, but will run on 2 to 5 cells. It has huge current capabilities. There is nothing else to mach it in this class of racing. Price Straight or right angled lead exit AUD $160 + postage. Switched + AUD $5 Availability query
Power Master Seven is an upgrade of PM6 and offers much better brake performance and comes with the benefit of additional available voltage (up to 18 cells) and larger BEC. PM6 will still be available as a more economical choice, but if you want the best in unlimited speed controls, this is it.
Price Straight or right angled lead exit AUD $185 + postage. Switched + AUD $5 Availability query
New DM Hi Volt is a 10 to 30 cell speed control built to cover the highest performance drag specs for brushed motors, and eliminates slow and unreliable micro switch systems. Price Straight or right angled lead exit AUD $175 + postage.
Dragmaster MkII is the only speed control available that can handle up to 30V (18 cells) and in excess of 250 Amps (for 2 seconds) (120 Amps continuous) with BEC and a brake that almost matches the drive capabilities. As you would realise, Drag cars spend as much time stopping as going. So if your into Drag Cars then this is the only speed control for the job.
Price Straight or right angled lead exit AUD $190 + postage. Switched + AUD $5 Only available with anodised aluminium case. Availability query
Mini P2 (Mini Power Master) Mini P2 is the smallest, most powerful, fully programmable
40 Amp rc speed control
available. It was designed for 1/18th scale Price AUD $75 + postage. Availability query
Mini P2 max If you would like the smallest stock motor speed control ever built, then Mini P2 max is it. Same small package as Mini P2, but has an amazing on resistance of (0.0016 W) and can handle currents of 70 Amps (10 secs) and 45 Amps continuous. This controller is so small, I have trouble attaching the wires. Price AUD $90 + postage. Availability query
Here's the best piece of equipment for tuning & testing electric motors. No need for transmitters and receivers, this uses a potentiometer instead. Ideal for running in that motor or getting the most performance from your brushed motors. The PM Bench Tester handles 75Amps continuous (guaranteed) and voltages 7 to 18V and can be run from battery or regulated power supply of appropriate voltage and current. Go to the PM Bench Tester Page Price AUD $120 + postage. Availability query
Stock Master was exactly that, a speed control for stock (27 turn) motors. It could handle 35 Amps on 5 to 10 cells, and was not programmable. Only 3 were made, this one is the only one without a case, and is still being used in my own scratch built 1/10 touring car. Because there is only 3 less components (heatsink ignored) than Power Master, Stock Master could not compete with other cheap speed controls and was discontinued. Other Electronics
Soft Steer is a small dual rate steering module that plugs between the steering servo and the receiver. Through the DIP switches it has 16 possible settings that gives expensive radio steering to any receiver. It allows you to have the softest of steering for those minor corrections in the high speed straights, without compromising turning circle. Price AUD $35 + postage. Availability query
Projects in Progress PM Brushless will be a speed control for brushless DC motors for car use. A reprogrammed version for aircraft with voltage cut out is also planned. Anticipated power is ~60 Amp on 6 to 10 cell up to 40,000 RPM on 2 pole 3 phase motor. Price not yet calculated.
