Instructor: Jason Cleghorn
Jason Cleghorn has been studying the Filipino
fighting arts for 20 years with a particular interest in Arnis/Escrima
and kali. His training in the Philippines and Australia whilst competing
in WEKAF tournaments has given him valuable experience, maintaining the
always a student approach to his training.
Guro Cleghorn is a 3rd
Degree Black Belt in Sikaran with an instructors rank in the Doce Pares
system under Diony Canete. In 1985 he received an international grade in
the Abanico system, also holding a level one instructors certificate
under Peter Shannon from the BJC, a system he is very impressed with.
In 1998 Guro Cleghorn
represented Australia, competing in the 5th WEKAF championships in the
Philippines placing 3rd in the sparring.
When in the Australian
Navy Jason was fortuniate enough to receive personal training from his
Dragon boat coach 'Chief Petty Officer Mike Winter' who is his mentor,
and he personally believes is one of the best coaches, certainly in this
country.
Classes in Mount Isa are limited to 12 practitioners per class, with 4 classes a week there is an additional Sparring class held 3 nights a week limited to 12 Arnisadores.
