About Vaccinations: Some older cats and young kittens have been reported to have adverse reactions to the vaccine which includes Chlamydia and some cats have been documented in Vet Journals as having developed a malignant tumour at the vaccination site for FeLv. If you keep you cats confined to safe play areas and/or indoors the pets should not be at risk for either of the diseases and therefore don't need these vaccines. The flu part of the vaccine can actually offer 3 years coverage. The latest information coming from Vet sources in USA is that the Enteritis part of this combined vaccine can give up to 7 years coverage. It is also being recommended not to give multiple vaccines which include FeLv and Chlamydia but to do the last two as a separate injection. About Diet: Cats are carnivores and therefore require meat as the largest part of their diet. Cooked & boned fish for variety, grated cheese, cat milk made up as an egg flip using only the yoke of the egg and raw chicken necks or lamb spare ribs for dental care and more nutrients. Cats have a need for sufficient Vit A, Taurine and a correct Calcium/Phosphorous ratio. Vit E should also be in the diet. Cats get Vit K from leafy greens (grass) and will eat grass daily if they have access to it. Serving fish also supplies Omegas and other nutrients. Do not feed a lot of dried food! Things Toxic: Most indoor plants, chemicals, cleaning products, puffer fish if living on canals or a beach, chocolate, aspirin, several garden plants (Azaleas for example) plus many more - your vet can help you with this. Miscellaneous Problems: Ketamine anesthetic, Some Burmese react to Drontal wormers and flea control products Frontline & Revolution. |
