The Purchase...

PROLOGUE           

Whilst visiting our daughter in Darwin during November 2005, quite out of the blue one day, we stopped at a Caravan dealership outside Palmerston and after looking through a couple of second hand vans they had available, we decided there and then to purchase the Coromal Excel 520 Pop-Top van we have today.  The plan was to retire in July 06 and head off on to the road and see Australia.  Well, we did retire, move house to Adelaide and are still travelling around Australia.  The following web pages chronicle our travels.  

DARWIN    TO    ALICE SPRINGS

12-11-2005        DAY 1

After spending a week at our daughter's home visiting the family we drove down the Stuart Highway  to Tennant Creek for our first night on the road.    We  booked in to the Tennant Creek CP for the night.  For dinner we bought some takeaway pizza.

13-11-2005        DAY 2

Leaving early today we stopped at the Devil's Marbles briefly before continuing south to Alice Springs where we arrived in the late afternoon.  We had no problems towing the van and made good time , but then, we had few stopovers along the way.   This will be the quickest trip we will make with the van.   Looking forward to retirement and travelling throughout this vast country of ours.

My plan is to make some modifications and additions to the van before we begin our travels, such as add a battery, sat TV, 12v lights and power outlets, additional storage on 'A' frame, generator and a few other little things.
