Burmilla cats came into the world as a result of a mating between the longhaired Chinchilla and the shorthaired Burmese, and have inherited some of the best traits of each breed. They were developed in the UK but Australian breeders have vastly expanded the world gene pool by developing the breed in Australia from Australian cats. They inherited the beautiful sparkling silver from the Chinchilla and the playfullness, short coat and human orientation from the fabulous Burmese. We specialise in the shorthaired Black Tipped and Shaded coat colours, and although other colours are sometimes available our breeding cats are only of the silver black tipped or shaded varieties. Chi-Lang Burmillas are now in their 5th generation of Burmilla x Burmilla breeding and are excelling on the show bench.

The Burmilla is less boisterous than a Burmese, but less laid-back than a Chinchilla. This cat loves attention and needs to be part of the family. They can be quite demanding and often follow their owners around the house looking for attention. If spoken to they often appear to understand and answer. They are very intelligent, curious and friendly. They usually settle quite happily to their new homes. They can be very sensitive to their owner's feelings and this makes them excellent companions. They are generally good with children and when fed up with the rough and tumble of play with human children will stalk off until peace resumes. |
